CCA Prep shines in the Queen City

by Ozie Davis III

Christian Center Academy, a private prep school on the east side of Cincinnati, Ohio is getting ready for an exciting 2004-2005 season. Head Coach, Travis McAvene brought in nine new players from Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin. Heading the class of 2005 is last year's Michigan Mr. Basketball Candidate, Brian Moten. Moten recently committed to sign early at the University of Virginia in the ACC. "Brian is the best pure shooter I've seen in the past 10 years," said Coach McAvene.

Another blue chip prospect that transferred to CCA is Marcus Rhodes from Gary, Indiana. Rhodes was a 2005 Indiana Mr. Basketball Candidate. "Marcus is our best athlete and has a great shot to go high-major Division I at the end of the year, said McAvene. “We will be ranked top 10 in the Pre-Season National High School Poll, which includes powerhouse programs like Oak Hill Academy, DeMatha High School, and Montrose Christian in Maryland, continued McAvene”.
