Former Florida St. guard signs with Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers signed guard Von Wafer, a second round draft pick on Monday. Wafer averaged 10.1 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 61 games over two seasons at Florida State. He played all eight games of the 2005 Lakers Summer Pro League, averaging 12.8 points and 1.8 assists in 23 minutes. Terms of the contract were not released.

Von joins JR Smith as the 2nd player of the Flyin to the Hoop '03 tournament to head for the pros. JR was selected 18th overall in the first round last year by the New Orleans Hornets. JR played for St. Benedict's Prep in New Jersey.
